Katla Plugin

The Katla plugin puts Katla’s whole panel on your computer screen. Use it as a standalone desktop app or inside your DAW to play, edit and save presets, change settings and update Katla’s firmware. Connect Katla to your computer via the Genki Link port to get started.

  • Desktop app for macOS and Windows
  • VST3, CLAP, Audio Unit and AAX plugins (AAX for Pro Tools on macOS and Windows)

On Windows, one signed installer sets up the app and every plugin format, including the driver used for firmware updates.

  • The whole panel on screen. Every slider, button and LED is mirrored live in both directions with the hardware. The window resizes at the panel’s aspect ratio.
  • Preset browser. Browse factory presets by category (Bass, Leads, Pads, SFX), your own library, and Init, for the full preset or any single row. Previous and next buttons step through them.
  • Undo and redo for every edit, including the ones made on Katla’s panel.
  • Computer keyboard playing in the desktop app, using an Ableton-style layout with octave and velocity keys.
  • Settings for MIDI and MPE routing, aftertouch source, clock sources and divisions, MIDI output mode and pitch wheel amount.
  • Connection status. If Katla won’t connect, the plugin explains why in plain words.
  • Every parameter can be automated.
  • Katla follows the DAW’s tempo and transport.
  • MIDI from the DAW track is routed to Katla.
  • Katla’s state is saved with the project. When you open the project, the plugin offers to restore it.

The plugin ships with the matching Katla firmware and installs it for you. Your presets and settings are backed up before each update. If an update fails, see recovery mode under Master.

Factory reset and Reset all settings are also available in the plugin, and each makes a backup first.
