Katla is a voice-rotating polyphonic synthesizer inspired by its namesake — Iceland’s largest subglacial volcano.
Katla uses wildcard parameters to introduce unpredictable, organic behavior and add movement to sound. It also includes four independent distortion destinations, including a stereo CMOS drive.
At its core is a voice-allocation engine that routes notes across five discrete voices with individually adjustable parameters. With six voice-allocation modes, Katla can create evolving, multi-layered textures where each note can respond differently. This feature, combined with Katla’s five LFOs and envelopes, enables intricate per-voice modulation, allowing each voice to stir, swell, and erupt in its own unique way.
